A camera in hand can change how a story is told, and that was the starting point for our Filmmaking Basics workshop.
Led by a professional filmmaker known for his award-winning short films and commercials, students learned the essentials of storytelling and camera work, then put those lessons into practice.
The icebreaker quickly gave way to action. Students crouched for low angles, shifted positions for better shots, and laughed when experiments didn’t go as planned. With each attempt, their confidence grew, and the room carried the energy of young filmmakers discovering their voice.
Part of HAL’s skill development program, this workshop showed what happens when students learn directly from industry professionals and walk away not only with new knowledge, but with the excitement to create.
